About Jinx Dog Food

This dog food brand was founded by dog owners for dog owners.

The founders were looking to find the best dog food for their own dogs and shared their findings and food with others in the United States.

Jinx kibble was made with 11 important dog health needs in mind.

  1. Strong muscles
  2. Digestive health
  3. Shiny skin
  4. Heart health benefits
  5. Eye health benefits
  6. Healthy joints
  7. Strong teeth
  8. Shiny coat
  9. Renewed energy
  10. Strong immune system
  11. Strong bones

When it first launched, it had three main kinds of kibble for dogs. This includes:

  • Chicken, brown rice, and avocado
  • Salmon, brown rice, and sweet potato
  • Chicken, sweet potato, and egg grain-free recipe

Since then, they have expanded to be able to include more grain-free recipes

Other dog food brands stick to the same basic percentages of fat, protein, and carbs that have been traditionally used for a long time.

However, using a new science designed for more modern dogs, Jinx has changed the game.

Fiber is the main focus of these dog foods, to help your dog digest and pass food through better. It also includes a probiotic to increase digestion.

While they also have grain-free foods for those that need them, they also have grain-friendly options that use traditional whole grains.

Jinx Kibble History

Jinx is a relatively new company that was founded in 2020.

It was designed by a group who wanted their dogs to have better food and health.

They are changing up your dog’s diet based on their modern needs, instead of their past lifestyles. With several doctors and doctors of veterinary medicine to back their research, they are confident not only in the safety of their product but in their ability to provide healthy food to your pet.

These doctors and their team of nutritionists and experts have a combined experience of over 115 years, all working to produce the best dog food available.

The founder and CEO of Jinx is Terri Rockovich. She created Jinx based on her dog’s behaviors with food.

Like many of us, she wanted what was best for her dog and started feeding it fresh, natural meals instead of dried kibble.

However, shortly after, the dog had to be taken to the vet due to dehydration and vomiting.

When talking to the vets and experts in the dog food world to learn how to make better dog food, Rockovich learned that many of them still actually fed their dogs kibble instead of raw food, as it ensured the dog was getting every nutrient. She found that many dogs, like her own, tend to eat around certain foods in a raw diet and don’t get the nutrients they need in the right portions.

Where is Jinx Kibble Made?

This dog food is made in the United States. Most of their ingredients come from the United States as well.

They work hard to get ingredients that have been vigorously tested for quality, food safety, and nutritional standards.

Only a few items don’t meet their strict standards in the United States. These are primarily vitamins and minerals like vitamin e supplements that are unable to be easily sourced in the US, and never with Jinx’s high standards.

The company did a look into how much of their ingredients are sourced outside of the US and decided it wasn’t more than 0.5 percent of the total formula of any of the dog food bags. This is the case no matter the flavor you choose.

While other brands make and source a majority of their ingredients as well, it is nice to have an exact percentage of how much of their ingredients are not domestically sourced.

Jinx Dog Food Cost

Unfortunately, with keeping your dogs food at its best nutritionally, the cost goes up.

Depending on the size bag you get, the food can be anywhere between two cents a pound to three cents a pound.

Compared to other dog foods, this can seem incredibly high. But those are for standard dog foods with outdated diet plans.

For other high-quality, premium brands, it is actually less costly than many of the others.

Also, if you look at the daily costs, you may see that it isn’t as much as you would think daily.

Since the meals are packed with nutrients, their largest bag (23.5 pounds) can feed even a 100-pound dog for less than three dollars a day.

Jinx Dog Food Ingredient Quality

When it comes to ingredients, Jinx has standards even higher than the AAFCO standards that generally set the minimum guidelines for dog food.

They contain a lot of natural and quality ingredients, but what they don’t include is just as important. Jinx has a never list of ingredients you will never see in the food.

  • Wheat
  • Flour
  • Corn
  • Soy
  • Corn syrup
  • MSG
  • BHA/BHT
  • Pea protein
  • Food dyes
  • Canola oil
  • Byproducts
  • Artificials

Though many dog owners are trying to turn towards natural foods and raw diets, Jinx goes back to kibble. You may be wondering why this is.

The basic fact is that it is hard to monitor raw and fresh diets. There are many chances for the food to get contaminated with bacteria, even in your own home if it thaws for too long or your dog doesn’t eat it fast enough.

Also, some dogs will pick and choose what they are eating, and not get all the nutrients they need.

Dried kibble is better for the teeth, as the rough texture helps to scrape off some of the buildup on them. It also provides all the nutrients and vitamins and minerals that your dog needs in every bite.

Jinx is designed to be easily digestible so your pet’s body can absorb all and gain all of the nutritional value they may need. This is why it is packed with easily-digestible protein, probiotics, and lots of fiber.

Some of the ingredients they include are organic chicken, salmon, eggs, sweet potato, pumpkin, carrots, and whole grains such as brown rice.

Grain-Free

While grain-free dog food isn’t generally recommended for dogs, there are some that just aren’t able to handle grain in their food.

Well, if you have one of those pups, don’t worry, Jinx has you covered. Whether your dog has an allergy or a sensitive stomach, these dog foods are formulated for you.

They contain over 20 superfoods for your pets, no fillers, and taurine for heart health.

This last bit is the best benefit to your dog that can’t ingest grain. Recently, studies have shown that taurine, which is found in many grains, is necessary for heart health.

Many grain-free dog foods that are of lower quality don’t include this important supplement back in, but Jinx makes sure it is included.

You can choose between:

  • Grain-free organic chicken and carrot
  • Grain-free salmon and carrot

For your basic dog food options to make sure your dog stays safe and healthy.

Grain-Friendly

Jinx Grain-Friendly Kibble Sampler

Most dogs require grains, and vets highly recommend just giving your dogs the grains they need instead of taurine supplements if your dog has no problems ingesting them.

However, a lot of lower-quality dog foods use corn as a grain. Corn isn’t digestible for your dog, and it provides no nutritional value.

This is why a lot of people started to gravitate towards grain-free dog food, even though their dogs didn’t have to be grain-free.

However, corn isn’t an issue with Jinx. They don’t use any corn or corn products. Instead, for their grain, they use whole wheat like brown rice.

Like with their grain-free dog foods, you have two options.

  • Organic chicken and sweet potato
  • Salmon and sweet potato

They also contain 20 or more superfoods and a large amount of 20 million probiotics for gut health.

The prices are all comparable as well, so you don’t have to worry about paying more for including grain or chicken vs salmon.

Sampler

If you aren’t sure if your dog is allergic to grains, but know which primary meat you want to use, the sampler is a great choice to get you started. There are two options, which are chicken and salmon.

The chicken is designed to be packed full of protein due to the low fat, high protein content in the chicken. Meanwhile, the salmon is best for healthy skin and coat thanks to the omegas in fish.

Both sampler packs come with two 4-pound bags, which are grain-friendly and grain-free versions of that protein.

This allows you to get a feel for which one your dog does better with and allows you to see if your dog even likes the food.

And if you know if the grain is bad for your dog or not, but don’t know if chicken or salmon works better for them? Don’t worry, Jinx just recently released sampler packs to help you with that as well.

Now, they have packs that include both chicken and salmon.

You again can get two 4-pound bags, one of each protein in grain-free and grain-friendly options, so you can decide what works best for your precious pup.

Where to Buy Jinx

Currently, you can buy this dog food at Petco, Chewy, and on the Jinx website itself. You may be able to purchase it on Amazon, but often just the treats are available.

As of March of 2022, they also expanded to working with Walmart stores, so their food is now available online or in-store.

They are looking to expand further, especially with their funding from celebrity investors.

Our favorite way to order, however, is from the online store specifically. It allows us to subscribe so we don’t ever have to worry about whether we remembered to order the food, and we save five percent off every order.

Jinx Recalls

As of writing this Jinx dog food review, they have not had any food recalls. However, with only two years being in business, they don’t have as long of a history as many other businesses out there.

They are off to a great start with their company, but we have yet to see how they will handle contamination risks or quality issues.

Wrapping Up

Jinx dog food is a premium dog food dedicated to giving your modern-day dog everything it needs to survive and thrive.

Packed with protein and fiber, your dog will be able to not only get a lot of nutrients but digest and absorb them as well so they will feel their best.

Compared to other premium dog foods, this one isn’t even that expensive, though it might be out of the price range of average customers.

However, if you have the money and a way to get this dog food to your home, then it is well worth it. In no time, you will see your dog feels and looks much better than it ever has before.
